Creating a Yapr voice clone means we build a voiceprint — a biometric model of how you sound. This page is our public written schedule for how long that data is kept and when it is destroyed. It applies to two things:
- Your voiceprint
- The voice model that can synthesize speech in your voice.
- Your enrollment recordings
- The short audio samples you record to create that model.
Enrollment recordings
Your enrollment recordings are deleted immediately after your voiceprint is created — or immediately after a failed attempt. They are never retained beyond the request that creates your voice.
Your voiceprint
Your voiceprint is retained only while you have an active voice clone. It is destroyed — including at our processor, ElevenLabs — on the first of these to occur:
- you delete your voice or withdraw consent in the app;
- you delete your Yapr account;
- 24 months of continuous account inactivity;
- the purpose is otherwise satisfied, or the feature is discontinued.
Consent record
We keep a record that you consented — the notice version, a transcript of your spoken consent, and a timestamp, not the audio — for the life of your account, as proof of consent. It is deleted when your account is deleted. [Longer evidentiary retention — under review].
No sale, no profit
We do not sell, lease, trade, or otherwise profit from biometric data. We do not disclose it to anyone except ElevenLabs, solely to provide the voice feature — or where required by law.
Security
Biometric data is transmitted over TLS and protected with the same or greater care as any other confidential information we hold.
Deletion reaches our provider
When you delete your voice or your account, the voiceprint is removed from Yapr and deletion is triggered at ElevenLabs, our voice-technology provider — this is already implemented, not a promise for later. Deletion is permanent; you'd record new samples to recreate a voice clone.
